Position Summary
The Event and Brand Activation Specialist collaborates closely with Sales and Marketing to help develop and implement a successful marketing strategy for generating awareness, preference and demand for VP Racing Fuels’ products at events and tradeshows. This role is part event coordinator and part front-line brand ambassador. The Event and Brand Activation Specialist manages the planning and logistics for tradeshows and events and creates engaging experiences that will engage new and existing customers. This role represents the VP Racing Fuels brand at motorsport races, car culture gatherings, tradeshows, and retail events to generate marketing leads, build social media following, encourage product trial and purchase.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, activate, and positively represent VP Racing Fuels at field marketing activities such as fan zones, promotional giveaways, influencer appearances, at-event promotions/sales, ride-a-longs, and other experiential touch points.
- Lead the planning and logistics for tradeshows and events, holding kickoff meetings, registering for events, managing necessary assets with appropriate sales team leaders, and helping develop marketing campaigns in support of the tradeshows and events experience.
- Help develop and implement new and creative marketing and activation strategies based on partner and VP Racing Fuels internal needs.
- Act as a liaison between VP Racing Fuels and key external stakeholders such as tradeshow and track personnel, show promoters, sponsored athletes and VP Racing Fuels dealers and retailers.
- Work closely with Marketing and Sales to ensure cohesive brand messaging and execution at events.
- Consistently evaluate current partner goals and objectives and recommend additional assets for their consideration.
- Utilize VP Racing Fuels resources, events, athletes, and influencers to create impactful brand experiences and stories that are locally relevant but have national/global impact at the event and digitally.
- Manage merchandise inventory and on-site sales at activation events when necessary.
- Transport, setup, staff, and tear down activation assets when necessary (kiosks, booths, pop-ups, etc.).
- Maintain VP Racing Fuels vans, trailers, and event displays in show ready condition at all times.
- Logistical support for as needed marketing projects.
- Hire and manage local brand ambassadors during field marketing activations.
Requirements
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Firm understanding of how to plan and setup for a tradeshow and/or activation event.
- How to work autonomously in the field, while taking direction from HQ .
- Strengthening relationships with race series and retail partners, as well as consumers.
- Measuring outcomes from tradeshow and activation events using analytics tools.
- Planning and activation of multiple events, meeting deadlines, and working effectively under pressure to deliver results.
- Able to travel as needed (up to 50%) and work flexible hours and weekends.
- Connecting and collaborating with corporate Marketing and Sales as a team player.
- Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal).
- How to think creatively, innovate, and stay current on digital & cultural trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with all levels of management and a variety of sponsors, vendors, and customers.
- Demonstrated in-depth sales and marketing techniques and financial principles. Effective ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-management, internal and external sponsors, vendors and customers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug test.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required or;
- Marketing communications with at least 3 years’ experience working for a high-profile consumer brand or activation agency (Sports or Retail marketing background a plus)
Work Environment:
- Primarily work in San Antonio office location
- Travel necessary
