Job Context
The QHSE Specialist is to perform various tasks related to the maintenance of the ISO 9001/14001/45001 management systems and to ensure compliance with regional environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Position Reports To: Commercial Operations Manager - Americas
Job Objectives/Responsibilities
- Prepare management system procedures for review and approval and maintain existing procedures to ensure applicability and ease of use.
- Maintain document master list and file of original group management system procedures; ensure all records are maintained and filed as appropriate.
- Ensure all EHS Incident and Improvement Reports are appropriately investigated and approved, and that corrective actions are completed.
- Assist with providing the quarterly KPI status updates.
- Work with various VPS Departments on the creation of Management of Change reports.
- Assist with the preparation of the quarterly Safety Meeting presentations.
- Compile annual data for sustainability reporting (required per CSRD and investors).
- Assist with the completion of the annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions assessment.
- Maintain the Americas environmental aspect/impact, legal, and HSE risk registers.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with the Americas health, safety, and environmental legislation requirements.
- Act as the Chemical Hygiene Officer for the Houston laboratory.
- Perform all waste management for the site including the scheduling of waste pickups, training employees on waste requirements, waste classification, filing of manifests, annual waste reporting, and communicating with current waste transport companies and finding new ones as necessary.
- Be the leader of the Houston Safety & Environmental Committee.
- Perform monthly Laboratory and/or Office & Warehouse Safety Walkthroughs.
- Create employee profiles for VPS Group in QHSE Management Software and Online Safety Training Software and assign training courses.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary by management.
Qualification Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Health & Safety or Environmental studies or a related field is a plus but is not necessary.
- Completed training on the following topics:
- Root cause analysis
- Risk assessment
- Laboratory safety practices
- Regional health, safety, and environmental laws
- RCRA and Texas Waste Management Regulations
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
Note: If person holding position does not have required training qualifications before being hired, then it is acceptable to attend training/obtain qualifications after starting position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
