What are the responsibilities and job description for the Desktop Investigator position at VRC Investigations?
Veracity Research Company (VRC) is seeking Desktop Investigators to join our research team. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in day-to-day insurance fraud defense investigations and operational needs for multi-state regions. This role is for the highly motivated individual who requires little supervision for daily activities and can maintain momentum and motivation.
As a key member of the VRC Desktop Division, the investigator will aid in insurance claims investigations by conducting database and internet research. The desktop investigator will complete tasks with other team members under management supervision, and when needed, will have the opportunity to cross train in other departments/divisions. Work involves considerable research capabilities, computer skills, language skills, writing capabilities, organization, and problem solving. This position is open for full-time or part-time, non-exempt positions, located in our corporate office in Denton, TX or via Remote access, and will report to the Desktop Supervisor.
The successful candidate will have related experience in one or more of the follow areas:
- Public Database research
- Background Investigations
- Social Media Investigations
- Records research
- Open Source Intelligence (OSINT)
- Preparing detailed investigative reports
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Complete preliminary fact finding on cases including database searches, internet/social media searches, aerial views, MVR, and records searches for all surveillance requests in the company
- Conduct searches with local courts, state courts, federal courts, tax assessors, county clerks’ offices, department of motor vehicles, and a wide variety of other agencies
- Contact responding agencies to locate reports, such as body and dash cam footage, fire/police reports, and scene diagrams while documenting and detailing the process
- Complete comprehensive research investigations on assigned referral as stipulated by manager and client direction
- Assist in ensuring investigations are completed on time and covers client request
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrate ability to effectively manage time, organize multiple projects, and understand directives
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, in person and by telephone
- Strong computer skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office and internal applications
- Experience in office administration or related field, with intermediate typing and computer skills
- A valid state issued ID
- Must pass a drug test and pre-employment testing
- Upon hiring, paid formal training is provided

Compensation:
VRC employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis. Investigators are paid a competitive hourly rate, commensurate with relevant experience and incentives dependent on position.
