A chemical technician is a highly skilled professional responsible for assisting chemists and chemical engineers in developing and testing chemical products. They may test chemicals for impurities, perform quality assurance, ensure that all chemicals produced comply with the applicable regulations and assess their environmental impact. They may also perform regular testing to determine what chemicals a product or sample contains. Key Responsibilities Tracking inventory, prioritizing orders, maintaining lab equipment and documenting the processes during each chemical test Following environmental regulations and reviewing newly published safety protocols from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFRA) Preparing chemical solutions, completing chemical orders and storing solutions safely according to different temperature requirements Conducting lab tests to ensure that chemicals are safe to use and recording and troubleshooting issues for further assessment Compiling and interpreting lab test results and correcting potential anomalies in results Monitoring chemical processes and resolving production issues by meeting with the appropriate personnel Producing and retrieving graphical results to share with lab managers or more senior personnel
