Description
The HR Generalist provides a broad range of HR support for business objectives, strategic goals, and initiatives. This role leads recruiting functions for the business, as well as provide team member relations support. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :
- Support and help managers drive process improvement initiatives by obtaining team member engagement and buy-in
- Responsible for day-to-day administration of policies and procedures
- Assist team members with questions regarding pay, benefits, policies, procedures, and other HR related matters
- Manage, track, and communicate leave of absence details including workers compensation
- Investigate and ensure fair resolution of issues in accordance with VT policies and practices
- Manage and track team member disciplinary action
- Maintain all medical records
- Coach, counsel, and guide managers after issuing team member disciplinary actions
- Formulate partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and team members that reflects the business objectives of the organization
- Actively recommend and implement projects which could include team member engagement, recruitment, organizational development, compensation, and training and development
- Develop, write, and revise company-wide job descriptions and policies.
- Prepare and maintain employment records relating to new hires, terminations, leaves, transfers, or promotions.
- Input data and maintain company HRIS system as applicable.
- Translate documents and interpret when necessary
- Other duties as assigned by Department Manager
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. No prior experience required.
Physical Requirements
Tolerance for sitting long periods of time. Possess finger dexterity to write, type, and use a calculator. Maintain adequate vision to view small print and computer terminal. Ability to speak and hear, walk throughout facilities with occasional light lifting (25 pounds), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms required. Ability to travel between multiple facilities as required to perform core job duties. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or moving surfaces. Ability to bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
