This position is union represented. The employee will be signed up with Local 354 (Metal Trades) union by Tomko and offered benefits according to the specific CBA.
Position Summary:
The Shop / Yard Foreman works on and oversee all divisions regarding General organizing, maintenance, and cleaning of all shops and the Yard. He is to work with but does not take direction from the floor foreman, superintendents, or managers. Also, at times, you may have some dealing with other internal departments as required.
Essential Functions:
- General organizing, maintenance, and cleaning of the Shops / Yard.
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
- Adherence to strict safety standard established by the Company
- Must possess strong communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills and can work independently.
- Enforces and abides by all W.G. Tomko’s policies and procedures.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as occasionally lift, load/offload or move product, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Keep all shelves in the Warehouse stocked and Fab Shop Stocked at all times.
- Assist / direct of all stored materials. Fabricated and non-fabricated items for stagging. (Everything needs properly identified that’s on this property; Job Name and # and PO #. Date received and estimated dated required on project site) This information needs to come from the Division / Department ordering / receiving this equipment. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the tagging is followed through with. If items are not properly tagged, address it with the Manager of that Division.
- If the site equipment and tools are not properly serviced upon return, he is to notify the Heavy Equipment Manager to address any issues.
- Sheet Metal area is to be kept neat and always organized. If issues arise, address them with the floor foreman. If the issue isn’t resolved, see the Sheet Metal Manager
- Tool Department & return / repair area is to be kept neat and always organized any issues see Tool Department manager. Assist / direct once tools are to be placed under the rear canopy.
- The Piping Fab Shop is to be kept neat and always organized. If issues arise, address them with the floor foreman.
- The Mechanic area is to be kept neat and always organized. If issues arise, address them with the Heavy Equipment Manager.
- The warehouse is to be nest and always organized. If issues arise, address them with the Warehouse Manager.
- The entire Yard is to be kept neat and always organized. This includes but is not limited to the flowing.
1) All shelving / bins are to be kept neat and always organized.
2) All No Hub pipe & fittings, PVC, Steel Pipe, weld fittings, etc. Also, if stored material in the laydown areas start to get disorderly, address it with the floor foreman. All shipping and packing miscellaneous items are to be picked up and properly disposed of immediately.
3) All floor space under the canopies is to be kept neat and always organized. (The goal is to keep everything off the ground and on shelves as much as possible)
4) All heavy equipment and accessories that we store here are to be kept neat and always organized. If returned items are not being re-stored to their locations, address it with the Heavy Equipment Manager. (Some examples, excavators, skids steers, hoe packs, busters, road plates etc.,)
5) All pipe carts are stored neatly and always organized in their designated location.
6) The unpaved area of the Yard is to be kept neat and always organized. The paint carts and stands, the duct carts, misc., site material etc., is always to be kept organized. If these items start to get disorderly, address it with the Manager of the responsible party.
Qualifications:
- Ability to perform essential functions outlined above.
- Ability to schedule and prioritize all work assignments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of diverse individuals.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will supervise any workers on his work crew.
Work Environment:
This position works in a typical heavy construction job environment. The atmosphere includes exposure to environmental elements and unusual elements such as: extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. An associate is required to wear clothing to protect him/her from any uncontrolled conditions.
Physical Effort:
Moderate to heavy physical effort requires handling of mid- to heavy weighted objects less than 75 lbs. Standing and walking is a key requirement in this position.
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30pm. 4 – 10-hour days, or it may be revised to 5 / 8-hour days.
Evening and weekend overtime hours may be required as job duties demand.
