Job Summary:

Equipment Operator I will transport crew, equipment, and material by machinery, truck, or bus to and from the site on public or private roads. Inspect, operation, and maintenance of equipment. Work and travel within assigned area.

Overview of Primary Duties:

• Operate/maneuver equipment on the construction site safely and effectively.
• Drives 12-yard dump truck to haul equipment and hook up and drive tractor/trailer and truck/trailer rigs to haul equipment and materials.
• Check daily to ensure equipment functions properly and safely.
• Coordinate with crew members in response to hand and/or audio signals.
• Responsible for fueling all equipment as required and checking oil and fluid levels.
• Accurately records all mileage to ensure proper computation; maintains a record of dispensed fuel and provides fuel accounting documentation.
• Maintains accurate accounting of truck inventory.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safe operation

  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices
  • Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.

  • Participate in workplace inspections.
  • Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care.
  • Participate in required and assigned training.
  • Provide suggestions to improve Safety.
  • Present a mature approach to working safely.
  • Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute.
• Other related duties as needed and assigned by Field Supervision.

• Must be 25 years or older with a clean MVR background check.
• Valid CDL license requirement is dictated by the needs of the site.
• Clean, maintain, and make basic repairs to equipment.
• Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored when not in use.
• Two (2) years of heavy industrial-related light operator experience.
• Successful completion of a DOT Physical.

Requirements:

• Operate by way of radio communications or hand signals, if applicable.
• Responsible for maintaining safe operations as per Yates and manufacturers procedures/guidelines within the equipment’s capabilities.
• Wearing, inspecting, and caring for required personal protective equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow operator procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan, and perform work activities independently
• The degree of job responsibilities and requirements may vary depending on months of experience
• Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights

• Ability to talk and hear to communicate
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
• Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
