ASSISTANT RESIDENTIAL SUPERVISOR
REPORTS TO: Residential Supervisor
REPORTING TO THIS POSITON: Life Skill Coaches- Residential & IHS
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Residential Supervisor provides support to the Residential Supervisor, flexing his/her scheduled hours to meet the needs of the house and/or the program. The Assistant Residential Supervisor is responsible for providing palliative care to residents at the home to meet residents’ needs. This includes scheduling and attending doctor appointments, covering shifts as needed and performing responsibilities of a life skills coach. In addition, the Assistant Supervisor helps the Residential Supervisor in ensuring that each of the sites meet DDS Regulations, policies & procedures. The Assistant Supervisor is expected to fill open shifts when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a High School Diploma (with a commitment to further education)
- One (1) year supervisory experience preferred
- Five (5) years’ experience with intellectually disabled population with demonstrated level of advanced responsibilities
- DDS Medication Certification
- CPR and First Aid Certifications
- Valid CT Drivers license and proof of insurance meeting minimum state requirements
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES:
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, behavior plans, policies and to follow instructions and procedure manuals
- Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence
- Must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to use a computer and learn appropriate software (Therap, Microsoft Office, Edge, Chrome, EVV Etc.)
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The Assistant Supervisor will be expected to:
- bend and lift 25 lbs on an occasional basis, bend and lift 10 lbs. on a regular basis
- stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
- walk frequently; occasionally sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell and assist with individual person transfers
SUPERVISORY AND RESIDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains compliance to all program policies and regulations as required by OSHA, DDS licensing (QSR) standards and WHCH policies and procedures; including but not limited to all records regarding petty cash, fire drills, medications, prescribed diets, accident/incident reports (DDS 255).

Works with direct care staff and Residential Supervisor to ensure agency and program policies and procedures are followed. Reports any non-compliance of agency policy and procedures. Assists in disciplinary meetings when necessary.
- Assures the safety and wellbeing of all residential clients while adhering to all agency and DDS policies and procedures

Responsible for day-to-day supervision of resident medical needs including but not limited to medication oversight, doctor appointment follow-up, etc.
- Accompanies residents to doctor appointments and follows up on doctor orders. Completes documentation according to DDS guidelines and reports to agency/home care nurse when appropriate
- Ensures that the medication cabinet has up-to-date medications, expired medications are destroyed/replaced properly, current orders are on file, and that the cabinet labeling and Kardex Book are up to date and accurate.

Monitors and follows up on documentation with Therap regarding programs, T-logs and S-comm’s or written documentation such as logbook, client tracking sheets, programs, etc. Reports concerns, issues, or inconsistencies to Residential Supervisor.
- Responsible for record keeping and report writing in daily site log, data collection sheets, DDS 255's and medical logs
- Communicates needs of residents, residential site and staff concerns to Residential Supervisor and works with Supervisor to address them. Reports any maintenance issues on site to Residential Supervisor.
- Provides transportation for residents, including driving agency vehicles or personal vehicle when necessary.

Ensures the implementation of the residents’ activities calendar for evenings and weekends. Oversees staff documentation of activity tracking and individual specific programs.
- Responsible for assigning tasks to staff to complete shift responsibilities. Performs household duties as necessary (cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.).

Implements resident programs including but not limited to individual plans, behavior plans, prescribed diets, and goal programs.
- Assists residents in daily activities, including daily hygiene functions. Through incidental teaching models behavior/activities for residents and staff during tasks
- Assists the residents in coordinating their daily routine including preparing grocery orders, shopping for resident’s personal needs, providing recreational activities and any other duties assigned by the Residential Supervisor.
- Maintains current and accurate training. Responsible for keeping track of own training needed and attending training before expiration dates.
- Consults with day program on the needs of the residents when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
