Requirements
- Designs products such as chemical injection units, hydraulic power units, process systems, utility packages, pressure vessels, & structural skid frames etc.
- Works with a design team to create process flow diagrams, piping & instrument diagrams, hydraulic schematics, equipment layouts, and fabrication drawings.
- Sizing and specification of instrumentation, control valves, positive displacement pumps and other components and completion of system calculations are a mandatory requirement.
- Perform mechanical design and fabrication for various types of packaged equipment and modules including conceptualization, material selection, assembly, testing and validation.
- Works with vendors to procure or contract required parts and work.
- Proactively document and communicate project plans, costs, and tasks for team members and supervisors.
- Uses computer-assisted design (CAD to perform structural analysis (FEA) on skid structures per offshore standards (DNV & API).
- Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production per customer specifications and industry standards.
- Review P&ID, layout drawings, fabrication drawings, etc. as needed for creation of skid packaged units and modules.
- Provides engineering technical support to the production team during the build and commissioning of your machines.
- Constant customer and vendor interaction and user manual creation.
- Perform testing on skid packages and equipment with shop personnel and customers to validate design per project specifications and requirements.
- Communicate with customers on project requirements and deliverables including design reviews.
- Troubleshoot equipment in the assembly shop with technicians during testing and assembly operations.
- Multitasking - Often the engineer in this role will be asked to participate In different phases of multiple projects, the ideal candidate would have the ability to balance his/her time and meet project schedules.
- Understanding of Hydraulics & Pneumatics - Pressure, flow dynamics, etc.
- Ability to work with a flexible mindset to handle multiple product lines and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Provide review and mark ups to structural drawings, piping drawings, P&ID’s, testing procedures, operations manuals.
- Strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced environment within allocated project hours.
- Highly organized and efficient.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with offshore packaged equipment design standards and requirement.
- Working knowledge of DNV 2.7-1/3 ,API RP 2A & AISC.
- Able to identify and understand graphic symbols in P&IDs and PFDs per ISO 10628 & 14617.
- Capable of sizing pressure relief valves per API 520 & ASME.
- Capable of sizing hydraulic accumulators per API & Industry standards.
- Working knowledge of industrial piping standards such as ASME B31.3
- Working knowledge of industry hazardous area classifications such as API 505, NEC, ATEX & IECEX.
- 5 years of experience in skid mounted equipment within a manufacturing setting, including but not limited to structural design, system component selection and sizing, technical writing of manufacturing procedures.
- Bachelor's degree In Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Industrial Engineering.
