A Project Engineer is responsible for the planning and execution of highly specialized work related to the transportation and lifting of large components in support of power generation, petrochemical and heavy civil projects. Such projects pose significant challenges that require precise planning and engineering expertise. W. O. Grubb looks to its engineering personnel to employ innovative design solutions for the handling of components that are often heavy, oversized, and / or extremely sensitive. The Project Engineer will support the engineers, salesmen and project managers by producing detailed layout, operational and fabrication drawings in support of crane, rigging, transportation, and steel erection operations. The Project Engineer is expected to travel to project sites, on occasion, to oversee critical lifts and to gather site-related information to assist in the planning of project work. The individual typically works under limited supervision and is expected to work as necessary to perform the duties required.
Responsibilities :
- Preparation of engineering drawings, calculations and procedures related to the systems selected for the execution of project work.
- Development of designs for temporary structures and rigging systems that incorporate both new and existing W. O. Grubb fleet equipment to be used in the execution of rigging projects.
- Development and oversight of load tests for new equipment.
- Production of related execution and fabrication drawings for new equipment.
- Preparation of crane layout drawings and engineering drawings.
- Occasional travel to job sites to take measurements or verify dimensions or to assist in oversight of lifting operations.
