Job Description
The Safety Specialist is a highly visible role which actively promotes and maintains a safe working environment by conducting workplace inspections, investigating safety incidents, developing and implementing safety training programs. The Specialist is part of a dynamic Environmental, Health, Safety & Security Team reporting to the Occupational Process Safety Manager.
The Specialist ensures compliance with internal / external safety regulations and advises management on risk mitigation strategies to prevent injuries and promote employee health and wellbeing.
The Safety Specialist is on-site in Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD
Responsibilities
- Leads, develops and implements safety processes, programs and guidelines ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as Grace corporate requirements.
- Reviews plans, workmanship, construction plans to ensure compliance with corporate and plant procedures.
- Coordinates contractor inspection and repair work for all fire prevention systems.
- Leads and / or participates in PSSRs, RCCAs, and JSAs ensuring continuous improvement.
- Conducts safety violation, incident or unsafe work practice investigations.
- Facilitates and conducts safety training including instructor led training for mandated topics to site personnel, contractors and visitors
- Vendor management, including Cintas for Uniforms, Mats and Boots
- Work with Fastenal for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Assign and maintain locker assignments
- Develops and leads and / or assists with safety management systems
