This newly created role will assist with the teams day-to-day operations as well as help plan and execute sales-led initiatives including account meetings, bookseller trade shows, and educational and library conventions. Essential Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with the National Account Managers to communicate, refine, and execute sales presentations and promotions, including: preparation of PowerPoint decks, editing Excel title grids, helping with comparison title research, and managing seasonal timelines for materials including ARC / galley grids, overseeing mailings of materials and sample materials to accounts.
- Collaborate with trade editorial, marketing, and art department to meet seasonal title previews and sell-in deadlines on the trade side
- Collaborate with our Client Services Director and University Press Sales Director to meet seasonal title previews and sell-in deadlines for our third-party client publishers, including university presses.
- Generate reporting and produce analytics in assistance with business reviews, frontlist/backlist sales analysis, market share category analysis and presentation of same to accounts.
- Manage title updates and orders, serving as a liaison with both internal and external teams including operations, customer service, the warehouse and accounts.
- Respond to research requests from internal stakeholders and identify answerable business questions in reporting.
- Be available to attend, as requested, periodic inventory, marketing, and editorial meetings in addition to seasonal positioning, presales, and sales conferences.
- Occasional business travel, domestic and international (Canada), to attend as requested account meetings, national trade shows, educational conferences, and library conventions.
- Communicates regularly, efficiently, and effectively with sales management regarding work flow, work load, and project updates, always with a mindfulness towards deadlines.
Required Experience
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years prior publishing experience in sales preferred.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- An ability to meet deadlines and prioritize effectively while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, text to column, etc.) and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with tracking and analytic tools, including industry and account specific POS such as NPD BookScan, Edelweiss, Publisher Alley, iPage, etc.
- Demonstrated analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skillscomfortable with both quantitative and qualitative data.
- Ability to travel within the US and Canada.
- Bachelors degree.
- Employment eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
- Must be able to work full business hours from WW Nortons NYC Headquarters.
- Annual compensation for this position is $50,000-$56,000. All salaries and salary ranges posted by Norton may vary depending on experience, skills, location, and like considerations.
