JOB SUMMARY:
As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design and development of advanced electronic systems, reporting directly to the Business Owner. This role requires expertise in manufacturing processes, PCB design, and system architecture, utilizing core skills such as C, and PCB layout software. You will also leverage premium skills and project scheduling to ensure timely delivery of product. Your ability to supervise assembly processes and apply technical writing will enhance collaboration within the team, driving innovation and excellence in our engineering initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and develop electronic systems and components, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards.
Utilize CAD software for schematic design and PCB layout.
Supervise assembly processes, ensuring quality control and adherence to technical documentation.
Develop and maintain production schedule to meet timely delivery.
Anticipate parts inventory needs and initiate orders.
Conduct root cause analysis for system failures and implement effective solutions during remote calls with contractors in the field.
Write technical reports and documentation to support project development and compliance.
SKILLS PREFERRED:
Soldering - assembly of through hole PC boards. Limited surface mount assembly
Troubleshooting:
· Simple Analog circuits - Op Amps linear devices.
· Digital circuits - TTL, CMOS technologies
· Microprocessor - Atmel, Microchip, old Motorola 68hc05 series.
· Use of basic VOM, oscilloscope, etc. to diagnose assembly/ design issues
Manufacturing Supervisory skills in a small business environment: supervise from receipt of order through manufacturing of electronic devices to shipping of finished product. Supervise several in-house full and part-time workers. Coordinate in-house and subcontractor assembly/manufacturing.
Electronic parts knowledge - function and manufacturers. Coordinate ordering of parts by Office Manager. Define and locate replacement of parts due to age/ obsolescence.
Knowledge of self-contained microprocessor systems and their tools (programmers etc.):
· ATmega series, Atmel Studio
· PIC series
· Motorola (Freescale) 68HC series
· C code
· Assembly code
Circuit Design skills: basic digital circuits, microprocessor/microcontroller, basic analog.
PC Board Design skills: Familiarity with PCB CAD systems: ORCAD, Eagle, PCAD
Writing skills: Technical writing - user manual, data sheet, spec. sheet, assembly document
Telephone Skills: Must be pleasant and engaging when dealing with customers. Diagnose customer instrument issues on live calls with field technicians. Determine if instrument can be repaired in field or needs to be returned to factory for further diagnosis. Coordinate RMA process with Office Manager
EDUCATION: College Degree Preferred
Salary : $85,000 - $125,000
