Full job description
A successful Field Engineer for Heavy & Highway Civil Construction will need to interface between Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Owners (DOT), Vendors, Subcontractors and other members of the project team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, review of drawings and specifications, scheduling of construction operations and material orders, cost estimating and monitoring, design of temporary support structures and safety systems, oversight of consultant engineering, quality control and environmental compliance, and the preparation and submittal of plans and reports.
Design elements include erection plans, shop drawings and 3D CAD modeling.
Requires the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and possess strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Must be a self-starter with good communication skills, strong organization, detail oriented with the ability to retain big picture thinking.
Salary Range
$60,000 - $90,000 depending on experience plus health insurance, pension, dental, vision and vehicle and travel expenses.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is required., Strong math, written and verbal communication skills are required., A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program is required.
Computer Skills
Strong PC/Microsoft Office skills (including MS Excel/MS Word) are required., Knowledge of Bentley Microstation formatted data is a plus., Ability to read and interpret project specifications, blueprints/plans is required., Ability to work with electronic files including 3D Models of construction sites is required.
Professional Licenses/Certifications
A Professional Engineering License and Registration in NY is preferred., A valid OSHA 10-Hour certification is required.
Driver's License
Must have valid driver's license, good driving record required.
Operations Experience
5 years of heavy/highway construction experience preferred., Experience on DOT projects is a plus.
