Litigation Attorney - Housing and Consumer Law

A nonprofit law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney to handle housing and consumer law matters in its Tappahannock office. A nonprofit law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney to handle housing and consumer law matters in its Tappahannock office. This is an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful courtroom experience, be mentored by experienced attorneys, and advocate for individuals and families affected by poverty.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in housing (landlord-tenant) and consumer debt cases across a seven-county service area.
- Maintain a full caseload with regular court appearances.
- Conduct client interviews, legal research, and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Engage in community outreach and education efforts.
- Collaborate with partner organizations to promote access to justice.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Licensed to practice in Virginia or eligible for admission under Rule 1A:9.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for court and outreach.
- Strong commitment to public interest and client-centered advocacy.
- Excellent communication, litigation, and legal writing skills.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
- $5,000 annually toward student loans.
