- Possess advanced accounting skills used to analyze client information
- Prepare high-level tax returns and workpapers with an advisory mindset
- Apply knowledge of tax regulations and ensure tax compliance
- Prepare and analyze planning estimates to maximize tax benefits
- Assess and research complex tax issues and identify solutions for clients
- Prepare correspondence for submission to IRS and other tax authorities via mail or phone
- Meet with clients in-person or via phone/virtual communications
- Provide client support and assistance for tax and accounting-related items
- Manage and maintain strong client relationships
- Examine opportunities for additional client service and ongoing support
- Prepare tax workpapers in compliance with firm standards, using various software and programs
- Prepare accounting-related reports
- Keep thorough records for other preparers and reviewers
- Work with tax team to ensure various tax processes are being performed
- Assist with overall tax workload, including preparation for tax managers and partners and review for junior associates and interns
- Comply with internal processes and procedures to maintain efficiencies
- Promote inter-office work and positive interactions among team members
- Attend professional development and training courses to improve knowledge base
- Keep up-to-date with current tax laws and regulations and monitor industry trends
- Maintain minimum CPE requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, business, or a related field. A master's degree in public accounting is a plus.
- CPA certification or progress toward obtaining a CPA is highly desirable.
- 3 years of experience in public accounting or a related field, with a focus on tax services.
- Highly proficient in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Familiarity with accounting software is required, and experience with UltraTax is preferred.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Adaptability and a commitment to flexibility in a constantly changing professional environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide precise and impactful feedback to clients and team members.
