Job Summary: Plan, Direct, Coordinate, and Execute SMT manufacturing processes. Resolve SMT machine operation problems, Assist other departments on an as needed basis.
Essential Functions
Setup and edit SMT machine program files, setup and operate SMT equipment, setup and operate related manufacturing equipment such as AOI, solder paste printer, pick-and-place, selective solder, reflow oven, BGA rework station, Xray, and Aqueous Cleaner. Coordinate equipment corrective/repair activities. Setup and execute SMT jobs. Interface with Stockroom and ERP system (PLEX) and QA department. Coordinate with Process Engineering to setup/maintain SMT job operations in ERP system. Coordinate with DocControl to update SMT-related company processes. Understand and follow applicable ISO and company processes.
Education Requirement: High School Diploma
Experience Requirement: 5 years experience operating and programming SMT machines. 1 year experience managing workers in a technical or manufacturing environment. 2 years experience working with ERP systems, preferred experience with PLEX.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Highly organized with attention to detail and able to execute tasks on schedule with minimal guidance. Ability to handle low volume production as the primary technician and also manage SMT manufacturing support staff for larger jobs. PCB component identification and understanding of basic electronics and basic assembly processes; prefer familiarity with IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies); IPC-J-STD001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies), IPC-A-600 (Acceptability of Printed Boards), and IPC-7711/21 (Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronic Assemblies). Ability to work as a team and interact with Engineering and Quality Assurance as needed. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable ISO processes, SMT programming, and ERP processes. Basic computer skills, including MS Word.
Working Conditions: Normal manufacturing environment.
