Job Description
This position is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents. You will oversee process administration, accounting entries, reconciliations, reporting and analysis within the financial reporting function. In addition, you will improve the effectiveness of the accounting team by making adjustments and/or enhancements to current accounting and reporting processes. In the short term, this role will provide critical support in the conversion of our ERP system, including conversion of our general ledger software system.
Some of the essential duties & responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead monthly and annual close processes
- Generate financial statements
- Analyze financial information
- Communicate with the team concerning new information requests and research
- Develop working relationships with non-accounting business personnel
- Support the Manager and other financial professionals in their duties as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or similar field required.
- 5 years relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
- Demonstrated competence of accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP and regulatory reporting standards.
- Practical analytical and accounting skills.
- Excellent verbal & written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to focus on details to ensure and maintain data accuracy and demonstrate holistic understanding of accounting and financial report.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
- Intermediate to Advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Ability to demonstrate continuous improvement through training
Preferred:
- Previous electric utility experience preferred with experience in power markets.
- Experience with IFS software and/or converting accounting systems.
- CPA licensure
