Waco Cardiology Associates is currently seeking a full-time Check Out Specialist - Front Office Technician.
Sucessful applicants will possess excellent interpersonal, organization and time management skills, medical terminology and experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Must be people-oriented and able to accept personal responsibility for the promotion of teamwork, professional conduct, respectful and effective communication, organization commitment and good work habits, attendance and appearance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Check out patients and complete the patient tracking in EMR.
Schedule patient appointments within operational standards and documents appropriately.
Collect outstanding balances, coinsurances, deductibles, copays, and self-pay balances that are owed at the time of checkout.
Accurately post payments and provide receipts to patients.
Reconcile individual daily receipts and money collected with end of day reports to confirm money balances and then prepare individual deposit.
Schedules testing in-house when available.
Answer incoming calls from patients and provide information, assistance, and support.
Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with healthcare providers and clinical staff.
Verify patient demographic and insurance information.
Document patient interactions, inquiries, and appointment details accurately.
Follow established call center protocols, including HIPAA compliance, to protect patient confidentiality.
Handle patient complaints and concerns professionally and empathetically.
Provide basic medical information and directions to patients as appropriate.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve patient issues.
Education and/or Work Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant post-secondary education is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare processes.
Empathy, patience, and a customer-centric approach to patient care.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulations, including HIPAA.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly in person and on the telephone.
