Job Description:
As an Estimator/Designer at our fabrication shop, some of your responsibilities
will be to; preparing detailed cost estimates, performing take-offs, managing a budget, and collaborating with our production team to ensure projects are completed on time and within set budget. You’ll work closely with clients, engineers, and suppliers, vendors, and customers to create high-quality designs that meet project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for fabrication projects based on blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D designs using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Analyze project requirements to determine materials, equipment, and labor needs.
- Collaborate with engineers, clients, and suppliers to finalize project designs.
- Provide design support throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to production.
- Prepare proposals, pricing, and timelines for client approval.
- Ensure designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Track project budgets and costs, and recommend cost-saving measures where possible.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in construction management, or engineering preferred. Experience and proven track record of success in the respective field will be considered.
- Proven experience in mechanical design and estimating within a fabrication or manufacturing environment to include structural steel and platforms.
- Proficiency in reading and comprehension of structural, architectural, mechanical and matching drawings/ blueprints.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and materials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations is a plus.
