Opening for an Interior Design Professor to teach at a CIDA-accredited creative college in the Dallas Design District near Oak Lawn Ave / Uptown Dallas area.
MUST HAVE EARNED A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN THE SUBJECT AREA OF INTERIOR DESIGN.
MASTER’S DEGREE PREFERRED.
Must reside in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Hiring for weekday evening courses.
Job Requirements
Earned degree and work experience in the teaching discipline of Interior Design for credit courses.
Industry experience.
Teaching experience preferred.
Available for weekday evening courses.
Must provide official transcripts.
Skills in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or Enscape
National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification
Job Description
The professor is responsible for the success of the total teaching / learning process within the assigned classroom, laboratory, shop, or other learning environment. The professor has the primary responsibility in academic matters for the content, quality, and effectiveness of the curriculum and further has opportunity to participate in institutional governance and influence institutional policy and practice through the role of professor and committee assignments.
Performs and carries out the teaching assignment in an effective and efficient manner;
Is responsible for student mastery of course competencies;
Establishes and maintains appropriate office hours;
Works individually and collaboratively with others to retain current students;
Remains current in the teaching discipline through professional development activities; maintains familiarity with recent publications and journals in the teaching discipline; and participates in professional organization meetings where appropriate;
Attends faculty, in-service, and curriculum development meetings, responsibilities in such will be outlined by the Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs;
Assists with the research function of the college by determining industry demands and employer expectations of graduate competencies;
Advises students regarding their academic performance and progress;
Reports student progress and attendance at the direction of the Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs;
Submits course materials, syllabi, and examinations to the Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs;
Recommends course textbooks;
Recommends industrial materials for classroom use and maintenance;
Recommends instructional materials and resources;
Recommends titles for library acquisitions;
Maintains up-to-date curriculum resource files;
Complies with all college policies, rules, and regulations;
