CLASSIFICATION: Deputy Court Clerk
STATUS: Full-time, Immediate opening
WORK LOCATION: Wadsworth Municipal Court
WORK DAYS/HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
COMPENSATION: $24.00 per hour/Negotiable based on experience

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Clerk, the Deputy Clerk is responsible for learning the work involved in entering data into a computer, public relations, handling cases from the courtroom, and answering the telephone. Learn to assist the other deputy clerks. Perform related duties as required.
Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of the position may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks;
- Assists with entering tickets and complaints into the computer;
- Assists with sending notices (e.g., arraignments, court trials, jury trials, change of pleas);
- Assists with issuing subpoenas to various law enforcement agencies and/or attorneys;
- Assists with license suspensions, vehicle immobilization’s, jail sentences;
- Assists with typing driving rights;
- Answers telephone and handles cases from courtroom and assists the general public;
- Process all in-coming mail;
- Assists with handling defendants who are incarcerated;
- Calculate fine and costs and verify accuracy of calculations;
- Employee is accountable for performing other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The selected candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Public relations
- Basic mathematics
- Computer skills
- Typing skills
- Multitasking
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Skill in operation of a personal computer to access, input, and retrieve information accurately
Minimum Requirements for Employment:
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have skill in the operation of a computer to access, input and retrieve data and information accurately.
Preferred Qualifications for Employment:
The following items are preferred qualifications, but are not required to be considered for employment. A preferred candidate may possess one or more of the following items.
- Prior public sector work experience in an office setting.
- Prior work experience or training in a municipal court setting.
- Two (2) years of work experience in providing customer service/administrative support
- Prior work experience with general public.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
