We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician Trainer to oversee the training and development of new ophthalmic technicians while ensuring protocol compliance and clinical documentation accuracy. This role is vital to maintaining high clinical standards and supporting the professional growth of our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and mentor new Ophthalmic Technicians.
  • Check in on technician training and make sure they have a solid understanding before allowing independence.
  • Support the Clinical Manager and assist with technician duties as needed.
  • Provide and assist techs with study guides and educational resources.
  • Coordinate training efforts with each clinic’s designated training technicians.
  • Ensure scribe documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • Organize quarterly Ophthalmic Technician Skills evaluations.
  • Train technicians on specific ophthalmic equipment and procedures.
  • Create personal development plans for trainees and set performance expectations.
  • Evaluate technician performance and provide training assessments.
  • Work with scheduling to ensure proper technician placement for training.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of lead/supervisory experience in ophthalmology.
  • Must obtain a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from JCAHPO within 18 months of hire.
