What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Associate I - B Shift - Days (0630 - 1900) position at Wagner Logistics?
Summary: The Warehouse Associate I—Baler Operator encompasses the operation and maintenance of the Baler system and Baler room in accordance with the standards outlined in the customer's contract.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Segregate scrap according to baler and cutter schedules.
- Transport scrap buggies to the Baler Room and unload them into Shredders using a fork truck.
- Load bales from the baler onto trucks using a Squeeze Clamp Fork Truck.
- Prepare shipping documents for trucks.
- Monitor and remove paper dust at the baghouse.
- Load baler tie wire as required.
- Clean, maintain, and lubricate balers, cutter scrap fans, external baghouse, divert valves, hydraulic systems, and heat exchangers.
- Clear out ductwork plugs using a Scissor Lift.
- Maintain cleanliness of the Baler Room floor.
- Operate Material Handling Equipment safely and efficiently, completing the Forklift Daily Inspection Form prior to use. Tag equipment "out of service" if deemed unsafe until repairs are completed.
- Monitor Scrap Buggy areas for fullness/emptiness.
- Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment requirements, including wearing long pants, steel-toed shoes, earplugs, and dust masks.
What You Need:
- Education: High School diploma or GED.
- Experience: One to three years of experience operating a baler in a similar warehouse or manufacturing environment and/or possessing small engine mechanical repair skills. Experience with a Squeeze Clamp Fork Truck and/or Scissor Lift is preferred.
- Safe operation of a Fork Truck is essential.
- Ability to withstand extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently and responsibly.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist, and kneel.
- Navigate through narrow and confined spaces.
- Work on sloping, uneven, and/or slippery surfaces.
- Possible exposure to high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
- Use hands and fingers to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights.
- Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds of heavy objects.
