Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely collection of payments, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of financial concepts.
Responsibilities
- Process incoming payments and ensure accurate posting to customer accounts.
- Maintain accounts receivable records by updating customer information and tracking outstanding invoices.
- Perform credit analysis to assess customer creditworthiness and determine appropriate payment terms.
- Manage collections by negotiating payment plans with customers and following up on overdue accounts.
- Prepare and send out invoices, statements, and reminders to clients.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to accounts receivable activities.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) in all accounting processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies or issues related to accounts receivable.
- Conduct data entry tasks accurately and efficiently while maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Accounts Receivable Clerk or similar role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, double entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts.
- Proficient in data entry with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients regarding payment terms.
- Familiarity with credit analysis techniques is a plus.
- Knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) is essential.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Quickbooks desktop experience a must. Construction experience a plus.
