About the Role:
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing all accounting functions such as general ledger accounting, tax, treasury, technical accounting and internal controls and will report to the VP, Finance. The Assistant Controller's primary focus includes regulatory compliance & practices and collaborating with the VP, Finance to develop financial strategies.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as an active member of WagWay's Senior Leadership Team to help drive WagWay’s business strategy and transformation efforts to become the leading company in the pet service marketplace
- Supervise and develop a best-in-class accounting team fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Partnering with the VP of Finance to determine accounting and tax implications for all material and complex business transactions
- Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with GAAP
- Act as a liaison to internal and external audit firms
- Oversee tax compliance and strategy in conjunction with the tax team and the VP of Finance.
- Oversee the treasury function, including cash flow forecasting and bank reporting, in partnership with the VP of Finance
- Collaborate and contribute to the Senior Leadership Team and BOD to improve overall company performance
- Serve as the Company's technical accounting expert and updating the Audit Committee and Senior Management on changes to accounting rules and its impact on the business
- Work with Senior Management on M&A activities when needed
- Partner and sponsor cross-functional committees to support the organizations transformation initiative and other strategic initiatives
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; (MBA & CPA preferred)
- 5 years of demonstrated progressive responsible financial and accounting leadership roles, preferably in a B2B(2C) subscription business
- Experience in management reporting for a Private Equity backed multi-site and multi-organization preferred
- Experience with subscription and SAAS business models
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with NetSuite preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to lead a fast-paced team with a strategic mindset towards modernizing processes while maintaining strong financial controls
- Demonstrated track-record of improving systems and being part of the team that helps modernize processes to drive a more efficient and scalable business model
- Experience with capturing, analyzing, and proactively delivering financial data and insights that maximize strategic decision making
- Experience with communication and presenting financial performance and leading indicators of the Company to all levels of the Company including C-Suite Executives
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business needs
