Wahlquist Jr High - CTE Technology & Engineering Teacher SY2526 (25928)

A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Wahlquist Jr High School for a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Technology & Engineering Teacher.  This position is for 8.00 hours per day, 182 days (9 months) per year. This position starts the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS.

Job Overview:

Enlighten students to the world of Business and Marketing.  Courses include an emphasis in Computer Literacy, Exploring Computer Science, and Exploring Business and Marketing.  Career and College Awareness course provides an avenue to inspire a generation moving forward.  Successful candidate will provide rigorous curriculum that aligns with UTAH Department of Education CTE Career Preparation Standards Measurement Criteria for business and marketing.

General Duties and Responsibilities (not exhaustive):

Under the direction of the school principal, the teacher is responsible for the education of assigned students and will create a flexible program and class environment favorable for learning and personal growth.  The teacher will establish effective rapport with students; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and the knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education, and do so in accordance with each student's ability.  Professional relations will be developed and maintained with other staff and parents. 

• Teaches subject matter, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other appropriate learning activities.
• Develop lesson plans, adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs, and utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences, which best utilize the time available for instruction.
• Utilizes computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
• Controls the storage and use of district owned property; makes minor adjustments and request repairs as required.
• Maintains classroom organization and discipline.
• Establishes and maintains Standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
• Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the classroom and the school grounds.
• Devises and utilizes techniques, which accurately measure students' progress.
• Evaluates student's academic and personal growth keeping appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means discussing academic and personal progress; interpret school programs.
• Communicates and cooperates with other professional staff in academic and personal growth areas.
• Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
• Conforms to district policies including attendance, absences and evaluations.
• Attendance must be adequate to acceptably perform listed job functions.
• Possesses problem-solving skills.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with students, school, staff, district staff, and patrons.
• Communicates effectively.
• Has knowledge of State Core Curriculum and Board of Education adopted guides.
• Valid Utah Career and Technical Education or Secondary License with a Business/Marketing Endorsement.
