POSITION TITLE: Career & Technical Education Teacher, Technology Ed; STEM Fields, High School
CLASSIFICATION: Certificated Position; FSLA Exempt
Union Representation available by the Wahluke Education Association
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and or Math endorsement; Career and Technical Education Certificate or ability to secure appropriate CTE endorsement. Strong Background/Experience in identified areas.
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor
SUMMARY: The Wahluke School district is in need of a CTE teacher qualified to teach a variety of courses that relate to Math, Science, Engineering & Technology. CTE certified, or ability to become CTE certified. Experience/training in robotics preferred. Familiarity in and availability to assist with TSA club and other student clubs preferred. Specific assignment to be determined by qualifications and experience.
Terms of Employment: Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, 180 plus extended days per year, starting at the beginning of the
2025/2026 school year.
Salary: Wahluke School District Certificated Salary Schedule, ~ $58,317-109,945 plus 7 CTE extended days.
In addition to these CTE extended days, Wahluke Certified staff also receive a 5.5% Professional Learning Activity Stipend; 5 TRI-Days and 3 additional days for student contact; Professional Developement Funds; Longevity Stipends beginning in fifth year of teaching. May include CTSO stipend of 8% of the State Base Salary dependant upon program needs.
Salary placement dependant upon degree, credits, and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate in Science, Technology, Engineering, and or Math endorsements AND the willingness to obtain Career and Technical Education certification within two (2) years of hire OR a Career and Technical Education teacher certificate. OR prior work experience relating to Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics AND the willingness to obtain Career and Technical Education certification within two (2) years of hire.
- Education: Bachelors from an accredited college or university in job-related area.
- Experience: Experience working with children and families of varied cultural backgrounds preferred. Experience teaching at the high school/secondary level preferred.
- License/Certificates/Registration: Valid Washington State Teaching certificate, no later than the first contracted day of the 2025/2026 school year. VCodes that align with STEM areas and/or CTE required with additional endorsements preferred. Must meet WA State Certification Criteria.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license or evidence of mobility.
- Completion of all CTE-related certification including a Conditional Certification Plan if necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Deliver quality instruction tied to the State Approved Frameworks and aligned with goals of Wahluke HS CTE.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly, using both formative and summative processes.
- Collaborate with Special Education teachers/supervisors to assist in development of student educational plans and deliver appropriate instruction as per plan.
- Plan a program of study that meets the interests and abilities of the Students.
- Provides for individual differences in the learning needs of students, provides a classroom climate that is based upon mutual respect, rapport, fairness, and consistency ensuring that every child has an equitable opportunity for success.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ELL, Reading, Special Education, CTE / STEM and others
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities (Conferences, Trainings, Courses) as determined necessary for better performing the job function outlined here.
- Participate in curriculum review and design with an understanding of the Common Core State Standards
- Use the PLC process to effectively communicate and collaborate with professionals at the department, building, and district levels.
- As a CTE teacher, participate in 3 advisory meetings per year to ensure your curriculum is meeting the needs of the community.
- Participate in/Support the extracurricular activities that are related to your position. This includes but is not limited to:
- After School supervision
- Chaperoning Student activities
- Assisting in fundraising activities

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges. Lift 20 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs with assistance.
