What You'll Be Doing

Are you passionate about helping families and ensuring children receive the support they deserve? Join our team as a Child Support Services Technician, where you'll play a vital role in assisting the public with child support services in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

As a Child Support Services Technician, you will provide both one-on-one and group child support orientations, process applications, and respond to inquiries via our call center and in-person visits. Your work will directly impact families by ensuring they receive accurate information and guidance regarding child support services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clear and informative child support orientations to individuals and groups.
  • Process applications and assist clients with inquiries both in-person and through the call center.
  • Perform administrative and technical duties with professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Maintain and update case records using the Automated Collections Tracking System (ACTS) and the agency’s electronic document management system.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to gather, relay, and explain information about child support services.
  • Verify public services received by clients and assess/collect applicable fees.


After successfully demonstrating the ability to independently meet the deadline expectations of this role, the Child Support Technician can work remote up to two (2) days a week.

Required

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Two years of experience working in a Child Support Enforcement Office.
  • Knowledgeable of NC Child Support processes and policies.
  • Experience supporting multiple staff in an administrative and/or technical capacity.
  • Ability to maintain composure while assisting a high volume of demanding clientele.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Current Notary Public Certification/License.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:30am - 5:15pm

Hiring Range: 22.84 - 27.43

Market Range: 22.84 - 32.03

Emergency Service Worker Statement

In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
