What You'll Need:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN required.
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- At least three years of experience in the Operating Room required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
- Preferred: National certification in specialty, encouraged to obtain within one year of hire.
What You’ll Do:
As a Clinical Educator, you’ll take the lead in elevating patient care. Your mission: to ensure our nursing staff in service line units are equipped to assess and meet patient care needs. You'll craft tailored educational experiences based on unit and patient requirements, covering areas like service line academies, skill-based proficiency, equipment utilization, and clinical assessments. Your collaborative spirit will shine as you work closely with the Director of Clinical and Life Support Education, Manager of Clinical and Life Support Education, Directors of Nursing, and Nurse Managers. Together, you'll create enriching learning sessions that empower our staff with the knowledge and skills to excel in the realm of cost-effective, clinically adept complex patient and family-centered care.
Your responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:
- Proficient Patient Care Skills: Teach and demonstrate patient assessment, care, and nursing skills such as mobility, respiratory care, pain management, and vital sign monitoring.
- Policy Reinforcement: Strengthen nursing staff's understanding of policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Coordinated Bedside Reporting: Coordinate nursing-centered rounds and bedside reporting alongside Nurse Manager/Case Manager, including phased-in multidisciplinary rounds.
- Tailored Educational Programs: Collaborate with preceptors and Nursing Practice Development Specialist (NPDS) to offer unit-specific educational programs, ensuring compliance and monitoring attendance.
- Professional Competency: Maintain and update competency, staying current with professional growth and knowledge to ensure the quality of services provided.
- Positive Communication: Model Wake Forest Baptist Health Behavioral expectations by communicating professionally and positively.
- Education Plan Collaboration : Work with nurse manager, assistant nurse manager, preceptors, and NPDS to design, implement, and assess the nursing unit's education and needs assessment plan.
- Safe Environment: Promote a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, co-workers, and facility, while addressing nurse-sensitive indicators and performance improvement strategies.
- Age-Appropriate Care: Support age and developmentally appropriate patient care, aligning with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for different age groups served.
