JOB SUMMARY
With direction from the stakeholder engagement co-investigator, the principal investigator, and the Project Director(s), the PM3 – Stakeholder Engagement will initiate, coordinate, manage, and bridge stakeholder engagement activities within a comparative effectiveness randomized controlled trial focused on blood pressure management after stroke with an emphasis on vulnerable populations. The PM3 will work with patient and caregiver stakeholders at 11 clinical sites.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Master's degree related to project management and evaluation, such as Epidemiology, Public Health, Psychology, or Sociology and four years of relevant administrative and medical experience in research projects or other health-related activities; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years' experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Additional training and certification in health disparities and community participatory research preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assumes major responsibility for the successful and timely completion of tasks that comprise the development, implementation, and evaluation of the activities encompassed by a given program or initiative.
- Develops and maintains timelines for the completion of tasks related to the implementation and evaluation of a given program or initiative and identify key milestones that would indicate successful implementation.
- Translates planning and design decisions into concrete activities and tasks for project implementation and sets priorities for project implementation.
- Review all patient-facing study materials to ensure appropriate literacy levels and cultural sensitivity
- Conduct community engagement activities to educate and increase awareness of stroke, blood pressure management, lifestyle, and research specific to this trial and in general
- Facilitate the stakeholder engagement activities at the Clinical Coordinating Center (AHWFB) and other sites. This includes relationship building within and across sites and managing the Stakeholder Advisory Committee and Policy Subcommittee; attend additional committee/working group meetings, as needed, and provide input on internal and external stakeholder engagement when necessary
- Contribute to the writing of progress reports pertaining to stakeholder engagement and attend meetings with the funding agency to provide engagement updates, as appropriate
- Support the training of research/clinical teams at the various research sites pertaining to community engagement and the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of vulnerable populations (African Americans, Latino/as, adults with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, older adults)
- Support the Stakeholder Engagement co-I in other engagement-related tasks, as needed
- Develop and manage REDCap database for engagement initiatives
- Participate in the co-development of manuscripts and community outreach materials.
- Prepares information material about individual programs and initiatives and prepares summary reports of program activities.
- Ensures that all aspects of program implementation and evaluation are conducted with the highest professional standards and in accordance with state and federal regulations and guidelines, such as HIPAA.
- Ensures that all requirements of the Medical School and the University comply with the program implementation and evaluation, including auditing requirements.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a medical and/or research setting
- Experience with multi-center clinical studies
- Experience with health education, health literacy, and cultural sensitivity
- Understanding of medical and/or scientific terminology as required
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, especially related to Special Populations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in community engagement
- Comfort with telephone/remote/and face-to-face communication and meetings
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
