Job Summary
Prepares and operates radiographic equipment to perform routine, mammography and bone density examinations. Responsible for data entry in the reporting system and ensures quality control tasks are completed accurately.
Education
- Associate Degree in Radiography
Certifications and Registration
- Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - R(M) (BD) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Valid BLS Certification
- Completion of a JRCERT approved course of training resulting in certification.
- Advanced certification in Bone Density and Mammography
The employee must prepare to pass the Bone Density specialty exam and Mammography exam within the timing the certifying body; ARRT, deems appropriate to complete the required criteria. Premier Imaging's IDTF status requires an employee hired as 'Registry eligible' to complete Registry requirements within the above specified time frame per the certifying body; or had the requirements already been met, within 6 months of employment. The specialty exam must be passed within the time frame specified by the Registry's requirements in order to retain employment status. For example, should the Registry allow 3 failed attempts prior to requiring re-enrollment in an accredited program, these requirements are followed.

- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices and exhibits a strong customer service skill set.
- Knowledge of infection control and radiation safety.
- Ability to evaluate and handle specific needs of the patients based on age and developmental status.
Job Specific Duties

- Educates the patient on the need for compression due to the anatomy of the breast tissue
- Verifies the identity of the customer, ensures correct procedure is administered, patiently and clearly explains procedure to customer and carefully considers the needs of the customer when selecting and applying techniques, equipment and communications
- Produces diagnostic quality images to include proper positioning, correct technical factors, collimation and patient identification.
- Obtains relevant/accurate history and/or examination data and properly identifies any physical variation (i.e. moles, scars, etc) and evaluates for discrepancies and follows up with physician if necessary
- Maintains a clean well-stocked and organized work area
- Consistently and accurately enters relevant information into appropriate information system
- Operates bone density equipment to obtain accurate measurements
- Follows Radiation Protection Policies to avoid unnecessary exposure to the public and to self as evidenced by receiving no more than two-level II readings per year
- Assists with customer tracking, ensuring proper quality control tasks are performed properly by standardizing test methodology and reviewing all data and ensures other related activities meet standards of care for mammographic services
- Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules.
