Overview
The Microbiology Clinical Services Technician evaluates patient specimens for testing acceptability, processes samples for culture and gram stain, and loads samples onto instruments according to procedures. Maintains a sterile work environment when applicable to prevent contamination. Uses the lab information system to track and process specimens. Answers the phone and provides appropriate responses. Helps maintain lab supplies, rotates stock based on expiration dates, reports inventory shortages, and assists with ordering as needed. Works as part of a team with general supervision from technical or supervisory staff. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.Department Description
