Responsibilities :
- Provide solutions when problems or unforeseen circumstances arise
- Read and understand technical details, drawings, specifications, schedules, and construction documents
- Assist Estimating Team with takeoffs, budgeting, estimating, bid preparation, and schedules
- Review project documents and create project specific subcontractor bid list and send out for bidding
- Provide continuous follow-ups via email and phone to ensure proper bid coverage
- Review and qualify all subcontractor bids to ensure proper and complete scopes have been included
- Prepare project proposals, budgets, and preliminary schedules to be reviewed by the Estimating Team
- Identify and resolve elements of project design and construction plans that may give rise to disputes
- Create, distribute and track RFI’s, submittals, and change orders under the direction of Estimating Team and Project Managers
- Manage job related purchases for subcontractors, vendors and equipment for approval by Project Managers
- Assist Project Managers and Construction Supervisors with procuring and delivering jobsite materials
- Manage permitting process from application to sign-offs. Including permits, affidavits, control documents, and sign-offs. Ensure records are in good order
- Request, track, and manage Master Subcontract Agreements and Certificates of Insurance
- Attend weekly project meetings when appropriate. Record meeting notes and distribute to appropriate parties as required
- Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client and project team in a respectful manner
- Obtain and effectively communicate daily jobsite and manpower reports to Project Managers, Construction Superintendents, and Subcontractors
- Assist with maintaining client relationships and ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Work directly with Project Manager and Construction Site Supervisor to ensure OSHA safety standard requirements are satisfied
- Ensure required project close-out documentation is obtained, close-out books are completed and delivered to the client in a timely manner
- Assist with jobsite supervision as required
- Assist with other tasks or projects when requested
- Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude and be responsible for developing the same in others
To be considered for this role, you will need :
1. A minimum of 1 year in commercial construction industry / estimating
2. A proven track record of construction knowledge
3. Proficiency in 'take off' procedures and software for construction projects
4. Knowledge and experience with Procore, Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and project management
5. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors
6. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex plans and specifications and translate them into accurate cost estimates with the team.
7. A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
