Department Overview
Walker & Dunlop’s Small Balance Group is a fully integrated lending platform specializing in debt executions and processes uniquely tailored to the private client multifamily market. As one of the nation’s top Freddie Mac Optigo® Small Balance Loan and Fannie Mae DUS® Small Loan lenders, our experts manage the origination, underwriting, funding, and servicing processes in-house and serve as a trusted advisor to our clients from quote, close, & beyond. The Impact You Will Have
Provide closing support to the Closing Officers on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans with an emphasis on data management, due diligence review, and document preparation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage receipt of due diligence and ensure all necessary participants receive copies.
- Assist with drafting commitment letters.
- Prepare escrow analyses.
- Prepare reconciliation of application fee and third-party costs.
- Prepare C&D commitments on Fannie Mae deals.
- Generate accounting workbooks for review by Closing Officer and coordinate with Loan Funding and the warehouse lender to set loans up for funding.
- Ensure that data in Salesforce is complete and accurate throughout the process.
- Ensure that documents needed within 48 hours for loan set up are received and placed in the Servicing Deliverables folder. Follow up with counsel if documents are not received by required deadline.
- Prepare ASAP submissions on Fannie Mae deals and provide necessary information and back up support to the Early Funding Desk.
- Review C&D and the final 4662 before submission of the loan for securitization to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Track and follow up on post-closing requests from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
- Ensure that relevant vendors receive payment in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Attendance is generally 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM EST Monday through Friday with the ability to work up to 2 of those days remotely.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college. Experience in commercial real estate, finance, title work, and/or paralegal studies is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to competently complete multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a part of a team, while providing a strong individual contribution.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent judgment and dependability, including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong working ability with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes
- Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders
Our Analyst Program is designed to provide entry-level opportunities to those actively in an educational environment or very recently graduated from such an environment. Those graduating in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 are eligible for the 2025 Analyst Program. Our 2025 Analyst Program will begin on Monday, July 7, 2025.
