Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located on the Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) Campus in Rock Spring, GA, for an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor. The EMT Instructor will be responsible for developing and delivering curriculum, teaching emergency medical techniques, providing hands-on training, and assessing student performance. The instructor will also ensure compliance with state and national guidelines and help students prepare for certification exams. The instructor will teach Dual Enrollment courses for both High School and College Credit for students studying to earn both Basic and Advanced EMT certification. The instructor will be a full-time employee of Walker County Schools, but may have the opportunity to additionally teach in an adjunct role for GNTC. The instructor must meet the qualifications for both roles.
Qualifications
• Hold and maintain certification in a core content area for the secondary level
• Be willing to consider additional content areas to one’s certificate
• Teach and support students at LAUNCH and its extensions
• Provide in-person instruction such as individual and small group tutoring, large group
instruction, and office hours
• Monitor and supervise LAUNCH students throughout LAUNCH facilities
• Manage a caseload of students and develop individual learning plans for each student
• Support students through their college classes
• Create digital course content to build a database of online resources and lessons
• Video record live teaching to be used as a digital resource
• Remediate students from the high school who are credit deficient
• Teach in-person classes at LAUNCH and/or a Walker County High School
• Maintain a Standards-Based Classroom with Standards-Based Grading
• Advocate for students
• Regularly visit the high schools to recruit for and advertise LAUNCH
• Serve as a club sponsor for students who are potentially interested in LAUNCH
• Create opportunities to individualize academic goals and instructions for each student’s
needs
• Maximize student learning through differentiation, effective assessment strategies, and
data-informed instruction
• Participate in collaborative planning at LAUNCH and with high school peers as needed
• Demonstrate the ability and flexibility to perform many roles such as counselor, nurse,
teacher, and advocate
• Exhibit commitment to build the vision for the growth of LAUNCH
• Maintain regular communication with parents, LAUNCH personnel, and GNTC
instructors, as needed
• Provide in-person instructional services to non-traditional learners
