Overview / Summary of Position
The SCHOOL PLUMBER maintains all plumbing systems in district facilities to ensure safe and continuous operation. Such oversight includes maintaining the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.

Supervision & Evaluation
The School Plumber will be directly supervised by the following personnel :
Director of Operations
The School Plumber will be evaluated periodically using an instrument designed by the Director of Operations and the Director of Human Resources.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
2. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
3. Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, toilets, water heaters, water softeners, etc.
4. Repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumption.
5. Receive and complete work orders.
6. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
7. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
8. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
9. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
10. Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
Employee must be able to : continuously walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend / kneel, reach, and lift heavy object. The work environment may include tiring and uncomfortable positions, especially around gas lines, fumes and potentially hazardous chemicals. The position requires frequent districtwide travel and there is risk of exposure to extreme temperatures.

High School Diploma (GED or equivalent)
Associate's Degree; Any relevant additional training / coursework
Certification
Journeyman and / or Apprentice Level Plumber
Master Level Plumber
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a plant / building maintenance setting such as commercial buildings, residential apartment buildings, medical delivery buildings, and public buildings.
Required plus experience in a K-12 educational setting (public or private).
NOTE that the employee will be expected to operate the following :
1) Hand / power tools; (2) pipe bender; (3) propane torch / welding equipment; (4) sewer / drain cleaners and augers; (5) heavy equipment, including forklift, trencher, backhoe; and (6) operate a light truck or van.
