The Area Manager is responsible for salaried and hourly union cast with specialized skills in hair and make-up supporting the Disney fleet of ships. This role will be instrumental in providing guidance and feedback in a way that promotes development and collaboration. The Area Manager-Cosmetology will be responsible for estimations, resource planning and workflow for multiple teams to achieve on time and on budget product delivery. This is a shoreside role with a possibility of travel.
This position reports to the Manager-Costume Production and Sustainment

What You Will Do
- Provide daily leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team of direct reports, including ensuring team receives accurate training, and they understand their role and how to perform it properly
- Lead a team responsible for maintaining a full stock of makeup, facial hair, and wigs while overseeing the production process, product procurement, fittings, documentation, and seamless delivery to ships
- Partner with Disney Cruise Line (DCL) operations and shipboard leaders to recruit, onboard, and train talent
- Collaborate with shipboard and shoreside leaders serving as the subject matter expert to provide guidance and support
- Lead Teams that meet or exceeds the expectations of Partners/Guests, ensuring a consistent product as well as a high level of customer service
- Monitor, analyze and take action on annual operating expenses
- Continually seek innovative ways of doing business
- Act as the vendor liaison to ensure company policies and procedures are followed
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with partners and support business requests in a fast-paced environment
- Ensure division and segment strategies are being achieved
- Look for areas of opportunity to improve efficiency and strive for consistent processes within the organization
- Accountable for an annual operating labor and charge out
- Lead planning sessions with partners to forecast project needs
- Oversee and establish process and Operating Guides
- Establish and maintain partnerships that support the implementation of new product
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5 years experience in a leadership role with direct and indirect reports
- 3 years experience in Hair and Make-up, Cosmetology, Costuming, Theater, Entertainment or other related field
- Experience leading salaried and hourly union employees
- Experience delivering feedback to all levels of employee
- Experience communicating (both written and verbal) with all levels of partners
- Experience planning workload, problem solving, conflict resolution, influencing, and negotiating
- Experience building and maintaining a budget and estimates
- Experience building strong, mutually beneficial relationships
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Able to work around all types of fabrics and synthetic furs
- Able to be flexible with work schedule, including extended hours, holidays, and weekends
- Able to travel internationally up to 5% and domestically up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using SAP and/or Coupa
- Experience with manifests, customs, and international shipping
- Experience working with hazardous materials and ensuring compliance with safety procedures and documentation
- Experience working with collective bargaining agreements
- Experience with prosthetics, air brushing, and makeup application
- Current Florida Cosmetology license
- Multi-lingual
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Advanced degree in Costuming, Cosmetology, or related field is preferred
