You Will :
As a Nutrition Assistant, you will report directly to the ANC Zoological managers and will be primarily responsible for the accurate preparation of animal diets .
This consists of proper diet preparation and packaging of diet items according to prep sheets and following food prep instructions accurately.
You must adhere to safety guidelines and maintain sanitary conditions as outlined in the ANC SOG, communicating inventory changes or needs and maintaining proper receipt, storage, rotation, and labeling of all food items.
You are also responsible for ensuring that facilities and all equipment are kept in a safe and orderly manner. This position must have a practical understanding of Basic Nutrition and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and how they apply to animal health and welfare.
You will be part of a team and will work effectively in a team environment for consistency. You also will interact on a regular basis with Animal Husbandry, Maintenance, Horticulture, Education and other partnering departments.
Nutrition Assistants also provide nutritional information and conservation messages through Guest and Cast interactions and magical moments.
You will serve as a backup for Nutrition Assistant Drivers, accurately delivering diets to animal areas with a majority of the time spent outdoors in the elements as needed.
The Animal Nutrition Center is a 7 day a week operation typically operating between the hours of 5 am - 4 pm, however extended hours may apply.
You will report to the Zoological Manager.
You Will Have :
Minimum of 2 years of experience in diet preparation or related field
Demonstrated attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to follow delivery instructions including storing food items appropriately
Proven knowledge of and use of a variety of food preparation equipment
Demonstrated ability to portion food items using standard weights and measurements (U.S. and metric)
Ability to move 200 pound carts daily
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds (more or less) throughout the day
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Knowledge of HACCP and basic Animal Nutrition
Experience working in a team environment
Valid U.S. driver’s license and personal mode of transportation to travel to and from the workplace and to behind-the-scenes work locations
Full availability for any shift, seven (7) days per week, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications :
Computer proficiency with Word and Excel
Ability to use pallet lift or pallet jack
The ability to operate a company vehicle, which may include a 14 foot box truck. Candidate must be comfortable, willing and able to operate a company vehicle under inclement weather, including during minimal lighting across the Walt Disney World Resort
Experience facilitating guest interactions
