Position Summary:
The ATF Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring strict adherence to all Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regulations related to the importation, documentation, and sale of pistols and firearms. This role focuses heavily on the accurate preparation and management of ATF import forms, Form 4473 processing, and other clerical duties supporting firearm compliance and recordkeeping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and submit ATF import forms for pistols and other firearms, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Manage and process ATF Form 4473 for all applicable firearm transactions.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of 4473 forms, including timely follow-up on missing or incomplete information.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date filing systems (both physical and electronic) for all ATF-required documents.
- Support audits and inspections by providing timely access to necessary paperwork and assisting in record reviews.
- Communicate with ATF offices, importers, and internal teams regarding compliance requirements and status updates.
- Monitor expiration dates of licenses, permits, and certifications related to firearm imports and transactions.
- Assist in drafting and updating internal procedures for ATF compliance regarding imports and pistol sales.
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry, scanning, filing, and document management.
- Provide training or guidance for staff on proper documentation procedures when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to accurate and thorough documentation.
- Previous experience in clerical, administrative, or compliance-related roles is preferred.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with the ability to quickly learn new compliance systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Capable of understanding and interpreting complex information, including government regulations.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of ATF forms, particularly Form 6 (Application and Permit for Importation of Firearms) and Form 4473.
- Background in a firearms-related business, such as an FFL dealer, importer, or manufacturer.
- In-depth knowledge of ATF regulations and the requirements for firearm importation.
- Previous experience supporting or participating in ATF audits or inspections.
