Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Apprentice

Waltonen Engineering is actively seeking a Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice to join our team!

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating and inspecting various machines and equipment, including defense vehicles, to diagnose defects and identify maintenance needs
• Support the dismantling and reassembling of equipment efficiently, ensuring proper functioning.
• Use hoists and a variety of hand tools to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks under supervision
• Examine parts for damage, wear, or other issues, making necessary adjustments or replacements as directed
• Collaborate with senior mechanic and the Project Manager to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and adherence to project schedules

Qualifications

• Some experience or training in mechanics, preferably with diesel engines and heavy equipment
• Must possess the physical stamina to perform maintenance tasks while standing for extended periods
• A valid driver’s license is required, along with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Basic knowledge of PCs, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software products
• Only United States citizens can be considered for this position
• Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience or training with military vehicles is a plus
• Basic welding experience would be a valuable addition to your skill set
