Wanda Farms is a first-generation family farm with a bold mission to feed 10,000 families healthier meals by 2030. We offer a variety of products, including grass-fed and finished beef, pastured chicken, pork, and eggs, all regeneratively raised on our pastures. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in promoting these high-quality products to customers and building our community of health-conscious individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Farmer’s Markets: Take ownership of the market booth and run it as if it’s your own business, creating a welcoming and informative experience for customers.
- Set-Up & Take-Down: Manage the setup and breakdown of market tents, displays, and product coolers independently. Be ready for heavy lifting and physical work!
- Time management: Must be punctual, arriving at the farm on time to load up, getting to the market on time to set up, and being comfortable with early mornings.
- Transportation: Responsible for safely transporting products and materials to markets, with travel times typically ranging from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours each way, using a Sprinter van or box truck.
- Customer Engagement: Greet customers, take orders, process payments (using POS system), and manage customer inquiries. Educate them about our farm practices and product offerings.
- Booth Presentation: Keep the market booth organized, ensure products are well-stocked, and track inventory levels throughout the day.
- Promote Wanda Farm: Encourage customers to sign up for our newsletter or enter any giveaways, helping to build our community and brand awareness.
- Team Collaboration: Work well with your teammates, help improve overall market operations, and contribute ideas for better marketing and customer service.
Needed Skills:
- People Person: Must enjoy engaging with people, have a friendly, outgoing attitude, and the ability to connect with customers easily.
- Strong Communication: Ability to clearly explain product offerings and farm practices.
- Sales Skills: Help educate and encourage customers to make purchases.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using a credit card reader/tablet for transactions.
- Team Player: Dedicated to the mission of feeding families healthier meals and always ready to support teammates and assist with farm tasks when needed.
- Physical Strength: Must be able to lift and carry heavy items (mainly product coolers) and handle the physical demands of setting up and taking down market displays.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to make quick decisions and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Driver’s License & Vehicle: Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation to the farm, and be able to drive a farm van or truck.

- Market Sales: Drive sales by engaging customers and meeting targets, with performance tracked through market sales data.
- Lead Generation: Increase email sign-ups at each market to grow our customer base for future marketing efforts.
- Product Knowledge: Educate customers on our products and farming practices to build trust and boost sales.
- Task Efficiency: Manage market operations efficiently, ensuring organization and timely completion of tasks.
Schedule:

Tuesday, Chicago - 10.5 hours (7:30 am - 6:00 pm)
Thursday, Chicago - 12.5 hours (4:00 am - 4:30 pm)
Friday, Lake Bluff - 9.5 hours (4:30 am - 2:00 pm)
Saturday, Winnetka - 10.5 hours (4:30 am - 3:00 pm)
Total hours ~43 hours
Week 2
Tuesday, Chicago - 11.5 hours (5:00 am - 4:30 pm)
Friday, Lake Bluff - 9.5 hours (4:30 am - 2:00 pm)
Saturday, Wheaton - 11.5 hours (5:00 am - 4:30 pm)
Sunday, Crystal Lake - 7 hours (8:00 am - 3:00 pm)
Total hours ~39.5 hours
- Winter Schedule: Primarily Saturdays and Sundays, with potential pop-up indoor trade shows or other ways to help out on the farm for additional hours.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $15/hour
- Sales Commission: 10% on revenue over $1000 per day
- Lead Commission: $1 per new email subscriber
- Food Credit: $1.50/hour to spend at Wanda Farm’s store
- Hourly Rate: Can range from $15 to $40, depending on market success
