Open Position: Registered Pharmacy Technician
Location: Employee will rotate between our Cheraw and Chesterfield location.
Schedule: Monday-Friday (8am-6pm) *Employees typically work those hours 4 days per week and have one full day off every week. Saturdays (8am-12pm) *Employees rotate Saturdays. CLOSED EVERY SUNDAY AND ON MAJOR HOLIDAYS.
Entry Pay: $12.00/hr

Licensure Requirements:
- 2-3 years of pharmacy technician experience
- Up-to-date SC Pharmacy Technician Registration
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- · Performs all job functions with Company Mission and Values in mind.
- · Participates in traditional and e-learning programs.
- · Communicates with and treats company’s customers of various ages.
- · Works effectively with other company employees, managers, and departments.
- · Maintains a department that is clean, safe, comfortable, and conducive to work. No PHI information should be thrown in the trash. All PHI should be shredded.
- · Answers phone promptly and relays pertinent information to the appropriate staff. Also, takes notes as necessary. Demonstrates the use of phone system without difficulty.
- · Maintains policies and procedures.
- · Maintains and respects patient and employee confidentiality at work and while off duty. Maintains confidentiality at work regarding PHI by not discussing patients and their medications openly or carelessly.
- · Maintains a personal appearance that is neat, clean, and professional. Adheres to dress code appropriate to area.
- · Makes every effort to arrive on time as scheduled and returns promptly after breaks and lunch periods.
- · Coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity.
- · Provides proper notice for absences and tardiness.
- · Consistently follows through on matters requiring additional attention.
- · Always conducts oneself in a professional manner, displaying a supportive role towards management to the staff.
A pharmacy technician’s primary job is to receive and fill prescription requests for patients. These prescription requests can come from hospitals, physicians, nurses or directly from the patient. Their work is overseen by a licensed pharmacist.
The preparation of a prescription requires several tasks. The duties carried out by pharmacy technicians can include:
- · Retrieving and reviewing prescription orders to ensure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
- · Enter data such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge systems, and maintain inventory counts.
- · Counting, pouring, measuring, and weighing tablets and medications
- · Assays medications to determine the identity, purity, and strength.
- · mixing medications (if applicable)
- · Selecting the proper prescription container
- · Creating prescription labels
- · Prepare the prescription to the point of verification, where the Pharmacist will review for patient dispersion.
The pharmacy tech’s job also extends to the daily operation of the pharmacy itself, including interactions with hospitals and patients. Some other, non-medication-related duties include:
- · Preparing insurance claim forms
- · Maintaining patient profiles
- · Completing cash register transactions
- · Taking inventory of medications
- · Being aware of the latest medicines and their availability
This list may not include every task or responsibility of the pharmacy technician but should be used as an outline.
