What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER position at Wareham Middle School?
Full-time teacher to work with students on IEPs
The specific job requirements include but are not limited to:
1. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
2. Collaborates with staff to provide individually designed instruction and assessments.
3. Collaborates with staff to ensure accommodations are implemented and IEPs are adhered to.
4. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards and establishes clear objectives, which reflect these standards for all lessons, units, and projects.
5. Implements the district's mission, philosophy of education and instructional standards and objectives.
6. Assesses and documents the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
7. Collects data on student growth and seeks the assistance of district specialists in order to improve growth.
8. Writes and implements student IEPs, conducts achievement testing and writes corresponding reports, attends IEP meetings, tracks progress and quarterly reports in regards to IEP goals and achievement.
9. Collaborates with special education department chair, BCBA, and team chairperson on a regular basis.
10. Collaborates and updates guardians on students' needs and progress on a weekly basis.
