Job Summary:
The Financial Accountant will oversee the financial operations of Warehouse 505 Teen Center, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in all accounting processes. This role will play a key part in maintaining the financial health of the organization by managing budgets, preparing financial statements, and supporting grant reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to advancing the mission of Warehouse 505.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Generate financial reports for leadership, board meetings, and grant reporting requirements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in developing and managing the organization’s annual budget.
- Monitor expenditures and identify variances to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Grant & Fund Management:
- Collaborate with program teams to track grant funding and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
- Prepare financial reports and documentation for grants and funding proposals.
- Payroll & Accounts Management:
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payment to employees.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and donor acknowledgments.
- Compliance & Audits:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including nonprofit financial reporting standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and resolve any audit findings.
- Internal Controls & Process Improvements:
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to safeguard assets.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and grant management is a plus.
