What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelter Monitor (Women w/ Children Transitional Housing) position at WARM-Waynesboro Area Refuge Ministry?
AVAILABLE HOURS: This position is part-time and will require working a 6-hour shift (4pm-10 pm) four days a week. You would work Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.
DUTIES
- Interfaces daily with women and children within the residential/transitional housing program;
- Supervises participants to ensure compliance with program policies and rules;
- Provides emergency assistance as necessary and/or communicates emergency needs with On-Call;
- Completes necessary documentation of resident activities;
- Oversees meal preparation and cleanup as necessary;
- Ensures that safety procedures and protocols are followed;
- Acts as a source of encouragement and help to residents;
- Answers phone to screen incoming calls, when applicable;
- Answers the doors (screen visitors, receive donations, welcome guests, etc.);
- Receives and processes incoming donations per instructions
-Documents self-administered medications in medication logs;
- Occasionally prepares a meal for residents, when applicable;
- Acts as the person to whom all residents are accountable with their communications, schedules, and responsibilities during the shift;
- Report all concerns, needs, and relevant information to management and other staff via Staff Log, Incident Reports, etc.;
- Addresses any behavior issues that create disharmony, criminal, or otherwise;
- Oversees program curfew, resident expectations/responsibilities, and scheduling during shifts;
- Ensures property's entrances/exits are secure throughout shift;
- Adheres to staffing schedules in order to provide adequate/safe staffing coverage and to accomplish program objectives;
- Maintains a working knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards to assure a safe work environment for residents and all personnel; and
- Performs other related tasks as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS :
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Applicable experience or interest in providing community services and working with issues related to homelessness.
- Preferred to have a valid Virginia Driver’s License.
