Position Summary: The Area Coordinator (AC) supports the mission of Warner University by promoting student spiritual formation, community development, and a thriving living-learning community in the residence halls that they are assigned. The AC is expected to affirm and model an active Christian faith that is aligned with the mission of Warner University. The Area Coordinator will manage 1-2 residence halls and will work to create a sense of belonging for the
residents in the building. The AC will support the broader work of Residence Life and Student Life. This position is an 11-month, live-in position. Position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Student Life.
Responsibilities:
- Promote an environment that promotes individual spiritual growth and a thriving Christian community in the residence halls.
- Recruit, select, mentor, train, and supervise Resident Assistants (RA) for the buildings that the AC manages.
- Conduct weekly RA staff meetings and regular 1:1 meetings.
- Support residence life programming that complements overall campus and student life programming.
- Promote a safe and healthy living environment by ensuring health and safety inspections are regularly conducted and work orders are submitted in a timely manner.
- Submit incident reports for any conduct, medical, safety, etc. incident that occurs that the Area Coordinator responds to in the course of their duties.
- Support students by being a visible presence on campus at campus activities, spiritual life events, and athletic events.
- Administer drug tests as needed according to Warner University training and policy.
- Participate in the Residence Life on-call rotation throughout the academic year.
- Assist in processing lower-level student conduct incidents and tracking sanctions.
- Maintain office hours in the Residence Life Office and/or residence halls to ensure availability for residents.
- Assists in the housing process by assisting with housing assignments, roster verification, and promotion of important dates in the housing process.
- Participates in weekly departmental meetings.
- Responsible for opening and closing the residence halls during designated breaks and weather emergencies.
- Attend and assist with the administration of weekly Chapels.
- Coordinate weekly residence hall room health and safety inspections.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Student Life, Vice President of Student Life, or the President.
Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Area Coordinators are expected to demonstrate an active Christian faith and lifestyle that is supportive of the Warner University mission and Community Commitments.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. An ability to establish positive relationships with coworkers, students, and their families.
- Organizational skills and an ability to manage records, coordinate activities, and prioritize tasks.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to be flexible and to react calmly in difficult situations while working to develop creative solutions.
- Ability to work and interact within a diverse environment with demonstrated leadership and management skills are required; ability to lead students in the coordination and implementation of regular activities designed to engage the spectrum of students enrolled in the institution.
