Summary

The Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing opening and/or closing duties in the absence of the Taproom Manager or Assistant Taproom Manager, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role involves leadership during scheduled shifts, enforcing company policies, and maintaining high standards of customer service. While clocked in as a Shift Leader, this is a non-tipped position. Outside of these shifts, the individual works as a bartender or server in a tipped role.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Opening and Closing Duties

• Ensure all opening and/or closing procedures are completed accurately and on time, including setting up the taproom for service or securing the facility at the end of the day.
• Verify cash handling processes, including counting tills and preparing deposits.
• Conduct walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, stock levels, and readiness for service or end-of-day compliance.
  
  

Staff Leadership

• Act as the point of contact for taproom staff in the absence of the Taproom Manager or Assistant Taproom Manager.
• Provide guidance and support to team members during shifts, addressing questions or issues as they arise.
• Lead by example, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  
  

Operational Oversight

• Ensure adherence to company policies, standards, and procedures during shifts.
• Monitor taproom operations, including guest experience, staff performance, and product quality.
• Handle guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
• Assist with administrative duties as required.
  
  

Communication and Reporting

• Relay shift updates, issues, and achievements to the Taproom Manager or Assistant Taproom Manager.
• Maintain accurate shift logs and documentation as required.
  
  

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure all staff comply with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
• Address emergencies or incidents according to company protocols.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience as a bartender, server, or similar role in a taproom or restaurant setting.
• Proven ability to lead a team and handle operational responsibilities.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, as well as cash handling procedures.
  
  

Employment Details

Compensation

• Non-tipped hourly wage when clocked in as a Shift Leader.
• Tipped wages apply when working as a bartender or server.
  
  

Schedule

• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed for opening or closing shifts.
