TITLE: School Psychologist
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s Degree
2. Valid Kentucky Teacher’s Certification in area of responsibility
3. Has met the requirements for a criminal record check as specified by
Kentucky State Law.
4. Has met health requirements as specified in district personnel policy
REPORTS TO:
Director of Special Services
JOB GOAL:
To provide psychological and psychoeducational services to students, parents, the
school and school staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan and Oversee Psychological Services:
The school psychologist plans and manages goals, services, schedules,
records and resources in order to facilitate a comprehensive program of
psychological services.
2. Coordinate Psychological Services with Total School Program:
The school psychologist works with others to accomplish educational goals
and objectives, provides information to assist in the development and
implementation of educational programs, and utilizes available resources to
facilitate the delivery of services to students
3. Maintains Professional Standards:
The school psychologist maintains professional standards by delivering
services consistent with guidelines for professional practice and codes of
ethics; adheres to relevant laws; policies, and lines of authority; and
maintains and updates knowledge and skills in school psychology and
education.
4. Establishes Specific Program for Psychological Services:
The school psychologist sets up specific program procedures to accomplish
goals, integrating current knowledge in psychology and education into daily
practice and promoting the use of school and community resources.
5. Applies Assessment Techniques:
The school psychologist utilizes psychological and psychoeducational
assessment techniques to identify the learning and/or behavioral needs of
students.
6. Formulates and Communicates Recommendations:
The school psychologist makes recommendations which integrate all data
available; communicates recommendations to facilitate decision-making; and
provides consultation to parents, school staff and others are needed.
7. Applies Intervention Procedures:
The school psychologist contributes to the development, implementation and
evaluation of instructional programs and intervention procedures at the
individual, group, and system levels.
8. Plans and Implements In-service Training and Research Programs:
The school psychologist assists in planning and implementing in-service
training and educational programs, and assists in the development of
research grants and proposals.
9. Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year shall be established by the Board of Education. Salary and
supplement schedule will be as per the District’s Salary Schedule.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of the
Warren County Board of Education policy on evaluation of Certified personnel.
Evaluations will be conducted by the Director of Special Services.
