DESCRIPTION
The position of Career and Technical Education Career Coach/CTSO Coach is established for the purpose of promoting career and technical education programs of study and related activities, providing assistance/instruction in career exploration and introduction/promotion/marketing of CTE POSs at the middle school level which leads to successful enrollment and completion of high school CTE and post-secondary training and employment. This position will work closely with CTE teachers, school counselors, post-secondary institutions, community, business, and industry. Some areas of focus at the middle school level are Career Exploration, CTE Programs of Study, Early Post Secondary Opportunities, Industry Certifications, Work-Based Learning, and Career & Technical Student Organizations to help students develop an understanding of CTE. The position will assist in the development career activities for middle CTE school programs. This position may be itinerant where coach visits five K-8 schools and one middle school during the school year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists school counselors in career exploration activities for students in 6th-8th Grades and others as appropriate including but not limited to field trips (Post Secondary, Industry, WCHS), currently selected career assessments instruments, Online Career Programs (KUDER, Pathful Explore, Defined Learning, etc.), ASVAB, etc.
- Assists Middle School CTE Instructors to help students develop an understanding of CTE Programs of Study taught in Warren County. 3. Assists in the development of career activities and programs for middle school students.
- Conduct meetings with students to develop and monitor a CTE program of study and/or career pathway.
- Communicate with post-secondary institutions and local business and industry to develop an understanding of EPSOs, work-based learning, internship, and tour opportunities, etc. available to students.
- Participate in local, regional, and state CTE PD opportunities such as workshops and conferences for the purpose of gathering information required to perform functions.
- Provide support for instructors who sponsor the Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) as advisors and assist CTE Director with coordination of professional development activities, student competition events, travel planning, and other activities.
- Collaborates with teachers, administrators, district personnel, students, parents, industry, and community organizations for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
- Maintains a variety of detailed records in a variety of written and electronic formats for the purpose of meeting program reporting requirements. 10.Prepares a variety of program related reports in both manual and electronic formats (e.g. multiple student data, course offerings, student participation, achievement, compliance, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, conveying information, and ensuring program requirements are met in an effective and timely manner.
11.Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
